Add Employee Properties

Like mentioned, Entities are objects. In Entity Modeling, Properties are the attributes of the Entity Object and can be added to the Entity like any other Building Block.

You’ll add following Properties to the Employee Entity:

  • Firstname,
  • Lastname,
  • IsTemporaryWorker,
  • Department,
  • Cost Center.

In the first place, you won’t add a Property to represent the manager of the employee, that will come later.

You’ll use standard platform mechanism to add an employee id.

To add a new Property, click on the Add button:

You’ll see most of the existing Building Blocks (more details to any Building block will follow later on):

Click on Property. You’ll see the wizard to add a Property:

A Property has following Attributes:

  • Display Name
  • Name (the system internal name of the Property: has to be uniqie within the Entity and Child-Entities, and has not to contain any blanks)
  • Property Type: Could be a string, integer, date, …
  • depending on the type further specification: e.g. the length of a string.

 

Property Firstname

For the Property Firstname, provide following data:

Property Type Text
Length 64

It should look like this:

To directly add another Property click on the button Add and continue:

Add following Properties accordingly:

For a Boolean Type, you have to provide some more details:

Value true Yes
Value false No
none <Leave it blank>

Since we do not need the none value, click on the row and click the trash button:

Like mentioned in the step before, delete the none value row.

To add an additional row, click on the plus button:

Mark IT as Default.

Delete the none value row.

Mark 4711 – IT as Default.

Do not click the Add and continue button but the Add button.

Save your changes.
