Add Employee Forms

Standard Forms

To create and see the data of the Employee Entity, you have to create at least two forms with exact following names:

  • Create
  • Default.

The Create form will be used when you create a new instance and the Default will be used to display the existing instance.

 

Create a Form

To create the forms, click on the Add button.

Select Form and provide the Display Name, Name and Description as mentioned:

Repeat it for the Default Form.

Your Entity should contain two new Form Building Blocks:

Configure a Form

Select the Create Form and click on the Configure button on the right hand side:

Forms can be created using drag and drop the predefined Identities, Properties, etc.. It is also possible to use data from related Entities. More information will follow in the relations chapter).

In the left column of the wizard you can see the existing components – e.g. the Properties you just created. The Other section contains elements to structure the the form and add additional elements like images, text and links.

The form itself is displayed in the middle column of the screen.

The properties of the form or a specific element is displayed in the nested right column.

 

Add Entity Properties

To add all the Properties at once, simply click on the Folder Properties in the Components section.

Your form looks like this:

You’ll use the Id of the Entity instance as employee id. Therefore add also the Id attribute from the Identity section and reorder the form so it looks like this:

Set Properties

Click on the Id attribute in your form. The properties section will be opened in the right column:

Depending on the attribute, you can specify the properties accordingly.

Select as Display Read-only:

Specify following properties:

Display name Display type
Firstname Required
Lastname Required

Select the Property IsTemporaryWorker, change the label to Is temporary worker?, set Distribute into culumn(s) to 2 and resize the Property so that the whole label will be displayed:

Select the Department Property, change the Type to Drop List and resize the Drop list:

Repeat it for the Cost Center Property and your form should look like following:

Save your work and close the wizard.

 

Default Form

The Default form can be generated easily. Open the wizard and Click on the Create form in the Forms section of the Components:

The advantage is also the disadvantage: The Default form looks exactly like the Create form + a container. If you change something in the Create Form, the change will also affect the Default Form. To avoid that, click on the Create Container and press the button Break link.

Select all Properties and drag and drop them outside the container. After that, delete the container. The form looks like the Create Form. This way of reusing existing forms is a good solution when you have huge forms with many Properties etc.

Save the form and close the wizard.
